Whit March’s preparation is full steam ahead.

Every year all of the bands that enter into the famous whit marches are faced with choosing two marches to play. One is the contest march that they will play on the bandstand and be adjudicated on, the other they will play as they march to the bandstand.  After much deliberation Belle Vue Brass Bands MD Mr Martin Moyse has chosen the marches that we will be playing this year (2018) the  marches are, New Colonial March (contest march) and Westward Ho (march to the bandstand).

Work has started already on both of the marches and they are both coming along very nicely indeed. We  were very privileged to  have  Mike Lyons who is a very experienced player,  composer, conductor and adjudicator visit the band on Monday the 5th of Feb to listen to the band and give his opinions and advice to us. His comments and guidance were very much valued and it was fantastic to hear him comment that the New Colonial March was “almost good”! Praise indeed coming from an adjudicator!

The New Colonial March was composed by Robert Browne Hall.  Westward Ho was composed by Edwin Firth.

Of course Belle Vue Brass are always keen to hear from players who are looking for a permanent seat in a local band or indeed who are looking for a band to play with for the Whit Marches. If you are interested in playing with Belle Vue Brass please call the band manager, Matt on 07853916788 or email  our Musical Director, Martin Moyse at martin.moyse@yahoo.co.uk
